Born in Milan, Italy, graduated at the famous Brera Art Academy.
Dario Piana starts his career as an illustrator and storyboard artist, and he still does it for his own films and commercials.
He has shot two movies in the USA: THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE and THE LOST BOYS 3, and four shorts (one of them based on a Giorgio Faletti's (I KILL) short novel.
One of his commercials is exhibited at the Louvre Museum in the advertising section.
Till now, he has shot more than 650 commercials, working all over the world with international talents such as Milena Canonero (costume designer, 3-time Oscar winner), George Clooney, Kim Basinger, Eliott Gould, Eddie Irvine, Michael Schumacher, Charles Leclerc, Ziyi Zhang, Valentino Rossi, ET, and many others.
He has won more than 100 national and international awards, including 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze at the International Advertising Film Festival in Cannes.
In 2021, he was the concept artist, characters creator, and director of "Leo's World", a cartoon series for young kids broadcasted on a national TV channel and in Europe.
In 2024, he directed a short movie based on a SHOAH story for RAI (Italian National TV).
His philosophy: "The secret of a good job is to avoid doing things that you know won't come right…"
